"I thought I was having a heart attack"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Clinical haematology Medway Maritime Hospital / General surgery South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

So, this afternoon I had some chest pain, coupled with coughing blood a few days earlier, I'm not registered with a GP, and I have no idea what do do. I called for an ambulance, they did do all the checks necessary, they were very helpful, very efficient, but above all, they were the least "we'll just do this and leave", they genuinely wanted to check on you and make sure that everything is actually fine. I ended up into the hospital where they took a blood sample, ran some tests, it took a while, but after all, I'd say I was very satisfied with the staff members. The GP they appointed for me actually tried to explain why I was having pain, he was genuinely caring. So, I'd like to applaud them for what they've done.

Dear DRaz

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about the care you received when you thought you were having a heart attack. It must have been really frightening for you, and I am so pleased to hear that South East Coast Ambulance Service, and the hospital, served you well.

Our staff very much appreciate receiving such kind comments, especially from patients and carers, and I know they would be glad to hear that you are doing well. If you have time and would like me to pass your feedback on to the particular staff concerned, please do email me letting me know where we attended you and when, so that I can identify the staff concerned. My email address is louise.hutchinson@secamb.nhs.uk.

Thank you again for providing feedback, and I do hope you are now recovering from what was no doubt a worrying episode.

With very best wishes, Louise Hutchinson
