"Follow-up information, after my operation"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

I had my operation on 12/2/2016 in the Day Procedures Unit.

The doctor examined me in Ward 16B on the morning on 13/2/2016 and told me I could leave that day.

Following several requests during the day to have my drain and drip removed (as agreed with the doctor), I was eventually discharged late afternoon of 13/2/2016.

It was extremely difficult to get my discharge form because of lack of staff.

However, the only information I was given on my discharge was that I would need a follow-up appointment with the consultant who had carried out my operation.

On 16/2/2016 I left a message with the consultant's secretary (I had the phone number from a previous procedure).

I was phoned back on 17/2/2016 and was told I already had an appointment for 14.20 on 18/2/2016 with the Plastics Dressings Clinic, a fact I was totally unaware of.

Had I not contacted the consultant's secretary, I would have missed the appointment and, no doubt, would have been blamed for it.
