I am a carer for my wife who is totally paralysed and is unable to communicate. I have cared for her for the last 5 ½ years. We use the nutrition service from Rotherham which is excellent. Monthly they deliver my wife’s feed to our house and there is always a nurse available if I need help. The feed itself is excellent and we are very grateful for the service we receive.
However, there is a problem with the pump that gives the feed into my wife’s body. It is not very accurate and it is difficult to set it to give an accurate amount. If she receives 10% more than she needs it makes her really ill and she starts to vomit. I have had several conversations with the technical support who maintain the pumps and they agree that it is not possible to set it within a 10% accurate rate.
After 5 ½ years I have learnt to know how much to pour away so that my wife gets the exact amount. It would be great if the pumps could be improved. But, it is a great service and we would like to thank all the staff and people that help us.
