About: Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Crisis resolution

(as the patient),

A lovely building inside - clean and bright but the location is awful. I worked in a shop round the corner from the clinic and when my work mates saw me going in they realised I had mental health problems and I ended up having to leave my job. I felt the location, and the fact that you cannot get into the building without ringing a bell and waiting for the door to open, in a way breached my confidentiality.

Plus, the fact that the building is locked makes matters worse. My work mates thought is was locked because it was dangerous to go into because of the mental people in it and also to stop dangerous people getting out.

Surely a more discreet entrance would be better and keep the door unlocked so people can get in quickly without being seen, especially if you work or live round there and are likely to see people you know.

One other problem I had was when I was very depressed just before Christmas I was given the number of a crisis servcie to phone and they never answered the phone. This line should be manned all the time.

Staff were lovely.

Thank you for your very positive comments about the staff and quality of the Archway Centre building in Lincoln. We are sorry that your work colleagues were not supportive in relation to your mental health needs. Mental health problems are still surrounded by ignorance, fear, and prejudice, despite the face that around one in four adults will experience them at some point in their lives. The Trust is committed to the “Time to Change” campaign which is an ambitious programme to end discrimination faced by people who experience mental health problems (http://www.time-to-change.org.uk). We are hoping to raise awareness by visiting shops and updating our service leaflets to take forward this campaign.

Also, thank you for the very helpful feedback about the reception area and access to the building. We are currently having a reception pod built at Lincoln Archway. This will allow us to review the current arrangements in conjunction with our Security Manager to work towards an open door policy. I can also confirm that if requested or clinically indicated, we are also able to offer an alternative venue for appointments in the South of the City. Please feel free to raise your preferences with your therapist.

In relation to the difficulties accessing the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Service, The Crisis team telephone is manned 24 hours a day, and there should be no reason why the phone is not answered as the phone is put through to the ward when the team members are all out. I am sorry if this was not the case. If you would like us to investigate this further for you please contact the Acute Care Manager for the Lincoln Crisis Team on 01522 573985
