I was seen within ten minutes of arrival after being greeted politely by the receptionist and asked to take a seat in the fresh and welcoming new Macmillan Renton Unit. I was then ushered into the consulting room where my consultant and a radiology consultant colleague examined me with the utmost courtesy, warmth and professionalism. I was talked through the ultrasound examination as I had it, there and then, in the room with them both, and then sent to have a mammogram, where again I had only a short wait, and met with a kindly and very efficient radiographer; the examination was over within ten minutes, and I was on my way home within an hour of having arrived at the hospital. The consultant called me the following day to let me know my (reassuring) results.
