About: Royal Berkshire Hospital

Phoned NHS 111 to ask advice on shooting pains in buttock from a back injury, based on the answers the lady informed me that I should attend A&E within 4 hours.

Arrived at A&E to be greeted politely by the reception staff, was called in to see the doctor within 5 minutes, discussed the symptoms and had my back/spine examined.

The doctor advised that the shooting pains would ease within time but it could take 4 to 6 weeks and offered advice on how to best cope.

I was in and out of A&E within 30 minutes having had a great service.

The last time that I attended A&E Reading was a few years ago when my daughter broke her arm and a great service was received then as well so I would like to say thank you to the whole team within the A&E department of the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment on NHS Choices; it is very much appreciated.

We are pleased to hear that both you, and previously your daughter, have had good experiences within our department.

The matron for the area will ensure that your comments are passed on to the team and we hope that you are now recovering well at home.
