My daughter required dental surgery today on Ward F63.
She is an anxious teenager who is afraid of hospitals since losing her dad and sister to cancer in the last 3 years.
Sunderland Royal held specific tragic memories.
From admission to discharge she was treat with such considerate care. Her needs as a young woman were addressed despite the child friendly environment on the ward.
The staff were caring, competent, professional and reassuring.
We were on the ward from 12 noon until 8pm as she was the last one for theatre.
I was very impressed that her decision at the last minute to have a general anaesthetic instead of the planned Local was accommodated.
This required the cooperation of the ward staff, the anaesthetist, the surgeon, and recovery staff and at no time did we feel we had inconvenienced anyone.
The domestic service staff were friendly with a chatty approach to their job.
The whole team showed motivation and enjoyment in their work.
Thank you for ensuring my daughter' s care and treatment were completed with minimal anxiety.
"Excellent care"
