My neighbour was unwell during the night, I went round to see him and found that he needed urgent CPR action which I started straight away, as a policeman I have training in this procedure.
My wife called the emergency services and an ambulance arrived very promptly. The paramedics asked me to continue with the CPR whilst they assessed the situation and took details form his wife. They then took over and when my neighbour’s condition had stabilized they lifted him back into bed and restored his dignity.
During this time two more paramedics arrived, all of them were very understanding, very kind and considerate towards his wife who was very distressed. The crews took time to make sure she was all right.
Such a traumatic experience to go through for a couple who have been married for 61 years, the paramedics were very sensitive to this.
