"The cleanliness"

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

(as the patient),

What I liked

The cleanliness

What could be improved

No information given on discharge as to what I should and should not do. I had to Google what I was supposed to do when I got home and rely on knowledge gained from my Physiotherapy course.

Anything else?

On arrival I was kept waiting for nearly 5 hours until a bed was found for me. I was there for day surgery. There was little communication. It would have been nice to have been updated.

Good to know that you found the QEII a clean hospital - this is something on which our staff have been working hard for some time now.

It was disappointing, however, that you experienced difficulties when it came to the information that was shared with you about your treatment and what you needed to do when you left hospital. For that we apologise, but would encourage anyone in a similar position - should that happen - to always ask to speak with the sister in charge. If you are unhappy with that experience, then we have matrons covering all clinical areas for large portions of the day, backed up by on-call matrons. Part of their role is to ensure that patients and their carers get the right level of support and information.
