"Patient had no value to MK Hospital"

About: Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Family member was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

After a major operation they were discharged on 29th December & referred to the Palliative Care Team.

No-one from this 'care' team, which sadly at MK Hospital is Macmillan, bothered to deliver any care or even contact us for over 2 weeks.

Even then this was because we were forced to contact PALS.

Shame on you for not referring the patient immediately on discharge to Willen Hospice, so that approptiate palliative care in the community would be started accordingly.

Shame on you for not explaining that in spite of the leaflet you hand out, your promises of care & service delivery it boasts about are not, in fact, available to patients discharged back into the community.

We were aware our family member did not receive the care, attention or proper referrals that they had a right to expect. Our precious family member subsequently died less than 2 months after diagnosis.

Though I may not hold you responsible for that, I do hold you responsible for treating our loved one like a piece of disposable rubbish.
