"Confused and in A&E"

About: Maidstone District General Hospital

Admitted to A&E with my husband and daughter. I was confused, but aware of my surroundings. I also had non cardiac chest pain, although non the less quite agonising.

I was able to verbalise this and despite the department being "heaving" with patients my pain was addressed quickly and effectively.

Doctors and nurses both examined tested and discussed my symptoms, which although I describe as confusion ( The useful video's my daughter took of me at home, have been described as if I am possessed) I could not have had better and more pleasant staff at all levels looking after me.

My daughter was worried about me going for a chest X-Ray due to my confused state, the radiographer's immediate response was a pleasant would you like to come in too.

Safety precautions for my daughter, of course, were not forgotten and I was reassured by her presence.

That afternoon there were not enough bays and my wait was partially outside however, as I said before my pain was addressed.

I was aware of feeling comforted by the fact that the staff, despite almost having smoke coming off their heels, were kind and efficient and I was afforded all the privacy that they could give! I was not kept long before I was given a bay and was fully examined by the Doctors.

My time in A&E long 8 hours, this was nobody's fault as I had to wait for a bed.


A&E staff all. Doubtless more patients than could be accommodated in the space provided.

I cannot comment on staffing levels safe to say I can only comment excellent!
