About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Throughout my pregnancy I found the midwives in triage 50/50, i'd either have a midwife that was extremely caring and welcoming and then I'd have a midwife that wouldn't even introduce themselves when approaching me (considering I was their with concerns of mine and my babies health a little smile would have been nice)

When my contractions started I went to get examined to see how far gone I was and saw a few drops of blood on the floor - extremely disturbing!

Went back the second time after waters had broke and midwife brushed me off and told me they hadn't, with extremely poor attitude. Every time I had a contraction the midwife would say 'when you have finished' that was making me very frustrated and thought it was total lack of care!

When I went back the third time to find that my waters had broken, I had two midwives that was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately they did not carry on with my care but for as long as they did i was very calm and controlled. When I was in the birthing center I was cared by two very lovely midwifes who made me feel better, until I went to the labor ward and my midwife had finished their shift I was taken over by a midwife who I didn't even get a smile out of, not what I need in labor!

Again during my labor there would only be 1/5 midwives and doctors who would actually acknowledge me when coming into my room making me feel very uncomfortable. Thinking being in a job that requires you to care for patients I didn't feel like they cared at all.

After my labor staying over night was awful, all the night staff I met were not in the slightest helpful, they clearly don't communicate with each other or read the notes that they are required to do. I had a c section so it was near enough impossible for me to move, with them explaining to ring the bell and they will come to help. Well that wasn't the case they didn't help at all with sick attitude, kindly asked the midwife to put my child back in his bed (as it wasn't easy to do) after he had fallen asleep, looked at me with disgust soon changing their attitude after I explained I had a c section, practically chucked my child back in his bed causing him to wake up again.

After finally leaving reading through my babies red book hadn't been filled out properly, his date of birth was wrong, his weight wasn't the same weight that the midwife verbally told me nor was his length in their, there were lots of blanks that should have been filled out.

Also my midwife who visited me was extremely shocked they had not told me how to administer my own injections before leaving.

I was extremely traumatized by my whole labor and believe I would have felt better If i had the care that it required by midwifes. It was extremely easy to see the different attitudes between the morning staff and the night time staff.
