"A 3rd world hospital"

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital

I travelled down from reading to have an MRI scan.My appointment was 17.10hrs so I turned up 10 minutes early.

i was informed there was a 45 minute delay but they hoped to see me before that.

My car was parked on a metered bay so had to walk 10 minutes to put more money in.

The nurse called me in after 50 minutes, apologised for the wait and told me to take a seat and I would be seen in 5 minutes.

25 minutes later I was called through. I then informed them I had no more money for the parking and due to me waiting for 1 hour and 25 minutes for my appointment

I couldn't stay. Another nurse just gave me my things back and called the next person in... they did not seem interested and did not even bother to apologise.

The hospital is a disgrace.

Dear John

I am very sorry that you were kept waiting for an hour and a half past your appointment time, we try to enable patient's appointments to run on time however, sometimes clinically more urgent cases have to take priority and this can put lists behind. I am sorry that the member of staff was not sympathetic and I have fedback to the department. I hope that you are able to get another appointment either in Brighton or nearer to Reading.

Please do contact PALS if you need any further help on 01273 664588

Best wishes

Caroline Davies

Deputy Chief Nurse
