"Concerns after day surgery at Ayr Hospital"

Operation went well but I was very sick after coming round from the anaesthetic. I was kept in overnight but not in a proper ward. I was sent to the endoscopy unit.

The nursing station was in the middle of the room surrounded by beds on all sides. I was not given a buzzer nor did I think the bed I was in had any remote control for the patient to adjust the backrest on the bed. My bed was in the upright position all night and the curtains around my bed were closed. I really needed pain relief in the middle of the night but had no way of discreetly getting the nursing staffs attention.Other patients were brought into the area so I didn't want to disturb them by shouting. I couldn't buzz for help to go to the toilet so I had to scramble out of bed. When staff spotted this they did assist me. At 5am in the morning I was able to ask for pain killers.

This is not the standard or care you would expect from the NHS.
