About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

I attended the Pain Clinic, and was delighted with the prospect of my medication being changed and getting some treatment for my spine. However 5 weeks later my doctor is still waiting for a letter in order to change the medication and my pain is worse. I have phoned and phoned, often just an answer phone and leave a message that never gets a reply. Someone promised to fax it through next day, that was two weeks ago. I spoke to someone today who told me they had backlog to December. I find this totally unacceptable, think of all that additional pain suffered and God forbid that this situation exists where health and life are threatened. What happened to the good old days when consultants secretaries did the letters.

This needs to be sorted as the already stressed out GP often bears the brunt.

Hello Elaine, thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you've had such a poor response, please can I suggest that if it is still unresolved you pick this issue up with our patient advice and liaison team on (01724) 290132 or nlg-tr.pals@nhs.net?

Kind regards,

Sarah Mainprize
