I had a vaginal repair of a prolapsed rectum and removal of a small cyst. All routine surgery that went well. I was in a lot of pain after the surgery but assumed it was normal. When the pain didn't go away I realised something was wrong. It is a rare complication from pelvic surgery that the pudendal nerve can be damaged. This has left me with life long pain. It's not that the surgery went wrong, it's just an unfortunate, rare complication. I would like to create more awareness of this condition as my GP had never heard of it. I had to pay for a private consultation to get a diagnosis.
