"Overnight stay in Cardiac Investigation Unit"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

In early february I was admitted to Cardiac Investigation to have an Implanted Cardiac Defibrillator installed. The ward was clean and bright, the staff, from receptionist to ward sister were cheerful and efficient. The procedure was described by the doctor whilst still on the ward and all my questions answered. On reaching the Catheter Lab where the op would take place the staff were all once again cheerful and efficient and happy to include me in their banter as they prepared me. I watched the whole procedure as i was under a local anaesthetic and listened as the doctor explained everything as they went along. I was returned to the ward for lunch and stayed overnight. My device was checked early the following morning and I was allowed to leave. The staff were brilliant, even the person serving breakfast opened my jam for me without asking as they knew it would be difficult with one hand. The staff had a smile for everyone, nothing was too much trouble and everything ran like clockwork. I had not slept for a few nights as i was worried. As soon as I arrived all of my fears were put to rest. Whilst I would not like to make a habit of visiting, I certainly would have no fear of it now. Great work all round and thankyou from a very satisfied patient.

PS The food is not brilliant but its ok and there is decent choice.
