"Dramatic improvement in care since last year- Royal Hallamshire"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

(as the patient),

I went into the Royal Hallamshire for Cervical Spine Surgery in June.

During my stay on N2 nothing stood out above the rest, as all the care I received was really good. From the tea lady right up to the consultant anesthetist, and both day and night staff.

I did feel like the bathroom facilities could be better, the shower was dirty and in need of updating.

I had surgery in May 2006 and noticed a huge difference in the standard of care between then and now (June '07).

There seemed to be more nursing staff, who in turn had more time to give to the patients.

Although I could feed and dress myself on elderly patient on the ward couldn't. Staff made sure she had a wash each morning, was helped out of bed if she wished and more importantly helped her eat food.

I don't want to single out one person but if pushed, I would like to thank the night staff who looked after me the night after my surgery when I was no particularly well. (night staff N2, room3)
