"Poor Nursing Care"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

My mother was a patient at Queen Alexandra. She was admitted due to falling backwards, this was diagnosed as Parkinson's Disease.

I thought the care she received in this ward was abysmal, she became delirious as the doctors reduced her Olanzapine (drug used for schizophrenia) to unmask the Parkinson's Disease.

She became incontinent, suffered trauma to her right arm and left leg. She developed pustulations from her thigh down to her foot on her left leg. I believe this is due to the trauma not being treated and the bed sheets were covered in puss from the trauma.

This has been over 3 months of treatment to try and heal the leg due to what I feel is negligence and very poor nursing.

A letter of complaint was sent to the Chief Executive to which a three page letter was sent explaining the problems at the hospital.
