The medical staff on the ward, the qualified nurses etc are generally very good, the unqualified agency workers below (Health Care Assistants - only in someone's dreams) are pleasant but unqualified and often ill informed.
The Dr's and consultants at the top of the tree I'm afraid, don't give a shit. You may see them for 30-40 minutes within 7 days when they bother to descend into the land of the common person but even then, they only manage to demonstrate their contempt for patients, and in my case, a complete disparity between their view of you, and actual reality.
Having self admitting myself following a failed suicide attempt I was looking for help, and at the end of 7 days I confessed at the review meeting that I was suicidal, self harming (whilst under their care) and was having visions of hurting others, I feared being committed.
Lolol no I was discharged into the care of the GP.
I was led in tears, to reception, to hail a cab.
But they did make a note of the clothing I was wearing, so they could identify my body if I killed myself on the way home, which I thought was caring.
Is it their fault, the Trusts fault, government budgets, poor Dr's.....I don't know?
But I left there mentally the same as when I went in, physically worse, and in a nutshell no one gave a toss.
This review won't be published, they like to pretend all is well.
Good luck if you are admitted, if you have a choice, try elsewhere, if you want yo get well.
Me?? I'm still looking.
