"Felt uncared for at Croydon University Hospital"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a volunteer/advocate),

It was nearly two weeks after admission that I was informed that I had a broken arm as a result of a fall. When the doctor asked the ward nurse on Purley 1 to fetch a dressing/sling he was told 'we are not paramedics' within my earshot. I felt very uncared for and have a poor opinion of the hospital as a result.

Dear Concerned Witness

I am so sorry to learn that your treatment as an inpatient left you feeling uncared for and I thank you for letting us know. I apologise sincerely for the added distress this caused and I will be happy to take up your concerns with the ward manager. It would be useful to know a little more about your stay, so that we can speak to the right staff, and if you are able to contact me or the PALS team with details of when this incident occurred I should be very grateful.

Our PALS office may be contacted on 020 8401 3210 or at ch-tr.pals@nhs.net
