"Excellent service from liaison nurse"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / General surgery

(as a relative),

My sister has a severe learning disability and is unable to communicate her needs and emotions clearly. She gets very anxious when anything is happening to her that she is unsure of. Over the past eight months I have accompanied her to several appointments at both Corbett and Russells Hall Hospital including two proceedures requiring a general anaesthetic.

On one of the first visits I was met by the LD Liaison Nurse, Jacqueline, who has since met me at the hospital on most visits. She immediately took charge and made sure all my sister's needs were met and enabled me to be with my sister when she was anaesthetised and as soon as she woke up. Jacqueline also arranged for my sister to have a bed on a ward for the day so that I could stay with her at all times.

I can not praise Jacqueline highly enough for the service she provides. She certainly made my sister's experiences less traumatic which in turn made it a lot easier for me.
