"Experience spoilt by Anaesthetist"

About: Leicester General Hospital

My admission for my procedure was on 27 February. I was very nervous & stressed, which the consultant knew about due to my previous history. The staff on Ward 11 were very nice, explained the routine and helped me get change.

Then the Anaesthetist came to talk to me, what they said was insulting and totally un-necessary. In away I was glad that due to an emergency the doctor could not do the procedure and I was transferred to someone else and a different Anaesthetist. The staff in the recovery room where also very nice.

However with this man's comments that is all that stays in my mind about that day and overshadows all the good staff that are in that department.

Dear Debbie,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are really pleased that the staff on ward 11 and doctors were kind and caring, but are very sorry to hear about your experience with the anaesthetist's bedside manner.

If you haven't already logged a formal complaint with the Patient Information and Liaison Service (PILS), we would like you to send further details to communications@uhl-tr.nhs.uk so we can pass this onto the team for further investigation. We would need to know your personal details (name, DOB, date of admission) as well as any details you can remember about the anaesthetist you mentioned.

Kind regards

Communications Team
