"A&E waiting room and Urology Department"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Long waiting times in A&E are to be expected but there is a frustration about when one might be called. Doctors frequently waste valuable time calling a name only to discover that their patient has gone to the toilet or is fetching refreshments. It is most annoying when the next patient isn't then called! With a constantly reviewed queue of patients, based on medical priority, it would be nice to have a regularly updated waiting list possibly displayed on one of the TV screens. Patient identity numbers could be used to preserve patient confidentiality.

No coat hook could be found in the gents toilet.

Staff and treatment in Urology was excellent.

Thank you for your constructive feedback about the Accident and Emergency Department at Eastbourne DGH.

We can certainly see your point of view about the organisation of calling the next patient and we will ensure that your valid suggestions are fed back to the A&E management team.

Please be assured we value all feedback from patients and their families, and we always aim to make improvements where we can. We recognise that there's no better learning than from peoples experiences.

It was good of you to take the time to let us know your views. We're happy that you found staff and treatment to be 'excellent'
