"Exemplary care in very serious circumstances"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

Our 88 year old parent came by ambulance to A and E on Monday morning very early. He was put in the resuc area of A and E. We were constantly updated on progress, what was being considered, what his options may be. Sadly, the surgeon had to tell us there was no good ending, he had hours to live. This was done with dignity, thoroughly explained and tactfully presented.

Throughout our time in this department a volunteer made us coffees and even brought us sandwiches. A delightful person who worked tirelessly to comfort people in their sadness. Please thank them form us and enter them for some reward ?

Our parents was moved swiftly to Ward B20. We knew this was the final stage of his life. All the family visited. The staff nurse did everything to provide a measure of comfort to him. Although there wasn't a separate room available for us we were given as much privacy as could be made.

These situations are stressful, distressing and draining. Every member of staff we encountered worked together and afforded the very highest standards of care.

The family would like to thank you all for giving of your best. It really was appreciated
