"I liked the location, easily reached ..."

About: Essex County Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I liked the location, easily reached by any form of transport, and on foot as well. I liked the staff attitude, pleasant nature, helpful to a fault. I thought the coloured lines on the floor were a godsend, to those trying to find their way to various treatment corridors

What could be improved

The building is old, waiting times are invariably lengthy, and seating in the corridors is lacking total comfort. Car parking is practically non-existent at the location, unless disabled, so parking can be a trial, although there are multi-stories within half a mile of the hospital. The sloping pathway to the hospital entrance, from the public footpath, can be a bit daunting for those less able to navigate

Anything else?

Though my wife and I frequently have to wait - sometimes 2 hours - to see a consultant, both of us were treated with dignity, and made fully aware of options, with regard to treatment, and kept up to date, with decisions explained fully to us. We were able to spend enough time with the staff, in order to satisfy our queries, and all staff were friendly and informative.
