"Experience at the maternity unit for childbirth"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I gave birth at with endgame hospital 3 weeks ago. Inhale to say it was not a very good experience because if number of reasons. My pregnancy was a complicated one with heart problems so I was seen by the cardiologist and anaesthetist before the labour and they put a plan in for my childbirth for an early epidural and to be monitored in a high dependency area during labour. Don't know why they bothered with making this plan as it was never communicated to any one in the obstetric team I had epidural at a very late stage and that too failed. So no effective pain relief for me during the labour which was not recommended due to my heart problem. Also after the birth the midwives went for a break for an hour before they decided to come back and stitch my episiotomy and I was left bleeding in the delivery suite.

And now 3 weeks after the whole thing I have discovered that I have a gaping episiotomy. So nothing has gone the right way really. So basically there has been a lack of communication and professionalism. I am so upset as I am in pain and have to keep going back to the GP surgery and the triage to get myself checked when I should be home looking after my baby. Would never recommend this maternity unit for anyone. I am going to lodge a formal complaint also.
