"Neurology outpatient’s appointment"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

At my appointment in neurology outpatients, initially I was met with the receptionist who appeared friendly. The nurse who took make blood pressure and weight seemed personable and he put me at ease so first impressions were good.

When I met with the neurologist they didn’t take time to introduce themselves properly, didn’t listen to me to make or make feel comfortable, came across as rude, cold and uncaring. I wasn’t at the appointment to make a new friend so I don’t expect a sparkling personality but I did expect them be courteous and responsive and to listen, instead I was made to feel my concerns were foolish. The appointment was rushed; I was never asked my previous history (I thought perhaps they must have read my previous medical history but clearly hadn’t). They said my presenting complaint would have been accompanied with prior symptoms (of which I have experienced) however they had asked me not to talk about my other problems as they wanted to focus on the problem the presenting complaint in the GP letter. All in all my first good impressions quickly diminished. I don’t doubt that they have ordered the appropriate investigations so this is reassuring.
