"A Hospital that fails to communicate"

About: Basildon University Hospital

Severe failings and a failure to act with any sort of urgency. I wonder if it is anything to do with the fact that my Father is 84yrs old and terminally ill. I believe the Hospital is ageist. It has failed to give consideration to the family's wishes.

The Hospital has failed in its duty of care, for example one day my Father was left without Breakfast one morning only to recieve a sandwich for lunch which he had not chosen. My Father went two days without a wash as he was unable to do so himself and the nurses on duty claimed that they had asked him and he had refused which was utter rubbish. It appears they prefered to wash patients at night rather than first thing in the morning and that if the patients were asleep in bed they just ignored them. Imagine that you had to spend several days in Hospital and you were in a routine of being awaken in the morning, would you not want to be washed at the beginning of the day? If some nurses/orderely's were able to do that why not all?

Why was my Father taken off prescribed antibiotics and know one on the ward could give use an answer when questioned?

Why does the Urology Department only hold meetings on Tuesday's? Why was my Father left off the list of Patients to be discussed the first two Tuesday's he was in Hospital? Why did the Urology Department fail to meet up with his relative's as per their request in order for them to be able to raise there concerns? Why is my Father being sent home before a treatment plan has been discussed?

PAL,s did not help or listen to our concerns.

There are some excellent Nurses and Orderlies and there are some that simply do not care. The lack of communication among the Hospital Staff is unbelievable.
