Hello, My name is Nathalie Verlinden. I came in the A and E on Tuesday 16th of June 2015. I had some brown discharge and was 5 weeks pregnant. I came because I was told that any bleeding during pregnancy should always be checked. The doctor I saw, unfortunately do not remember their name, did an external abdominal scan. They told me: here is your baby, he is in the uterus, so we can rule out the ectopic pregnancy, but it may be early to check for a heart rate, so I will book you in for an appointment with a gynaecologist on Thursday the 18th. They said I could go home. When I came back to the hospital at the early gynae clinic, a doctor did an internal scan to me, they told me I am sorry to tell you you have an ectopic pregnancy, I was operated on the same day, in emergency, I came out of the hospital on the saturday 20th. There is a doctor in your A and E who is capable of making extremely wrong and dangerous diagnosis, my tube could have ruptured that same night after they told me it was all fine. And the fact that they put my hopes up made the news that much worse in thursday, I am feeling awful about what has happened, and felt extremely confused by having two doctors giving completely opposite diagnostics. You must not let this doctor do other external scans to pregnant women as they are obviously not capable of doing so.
