"The Hospital is very clean and ..."

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

The Hospital is very clean and all the staff were very helpful and kind.

What could be improved

Not enough doctors and nurses on duty and no one seemed to work on the ward that my Dads is on normally. When I asked what is going on with my Dad everyone I asked over the last two weeks have said "sorry I do not usually work on this ward".They tried very hard to give me information however they never really knew what was happening. When I finally talked to a doctor this weekend they again said "I am only standing in". Subsequently although everyone is working very hard the care that my Dad is receiving is very dis-jointed. This is causing him to be aggrevated and stressed and is difficult for the family to know where we are with his care.

Anything else?

One day we are being told one thing and the next day we are being told something completely different by someone completely different also. This weekend the nurse on Saturday said we are trying to get him moved to the respiritory ward and this morning when I asked how they were doing with that I was told by someone else that nothing was in the notes and they know nothing about him being moved. One cannot help but think that something important is going to be missed and my Dad is seriously ill already.
