"Nice staff and acceptable facilities, but badly..."
About: St Bartholomew's Hospital St Bartholomew's Hospital EC1A 7BE
I attended the ward with a minor foot injury. Within 10 minutes I saw a nurse, who agreed that it was likely nothing, but referred me to radiography for imaging. 10 minutes later a wonderful student radiographer took some images, and referred me back to minor injuries. 2 and a half hours later, I *finally* saw a nurse practitioner, who took 5 minutes to re-examine the foot and check the x-rays to conclude that yes, it was just a soft tissue injury. This isn't my first experience of unnecessarily long waits at St Bart's. Really, this strikes me more due to the lack of modern communication and understaffing than anything else - the results of my x-ray could have been emailed to me, for example, or the nurse practitioner could have simply called to confirm whether or not I needed further treatment. There are many, many ways to get around these unacceptably long waiting room queues, and until St Barts attempts to remedy them, I won't be recommending their services to anybody.
