"Poor continuity"

About: Lister Hospital

I rang the hospital to see whether I should attend QE2 urgent care or lister A&E I was told to go to the QE2. Waited 2 hours to be seen which would have been ok, only I was then told to go to the lister. I was given a referral letter as I had been assessed, but then waited in lister A&E for 5 hours. Not seeing anyone in this time. I was told to stay nil by mouth so hadn't eaten for the whole day, was taken to SAU where I waited for 4 hours then taken to another ward. At 11.30pm I was told I would have an op the next day. The continuity of information between staff is extremely poor. How ever the staff I delt with were good individually. I also was made to feel like a pain because I had to keep asking for pain meds rather than being given them in a consistent manor to deal with the situation

We're really sorry your experience of our service was not good - we know that our senior A&E nurse would appreciate talking with you about what happened during your recent visit to the Lister and QEII. If you would be happy for that to happen, please email us on generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net and we'll arrange that for you.
