"S2 ward staff care and timing"

About: North Middlesex Hospital

I have been on the s2 ward with my partner since 7pm yesterday afternoon and have been told that she might need to have an operation! Its now been 24hours and the staff who are caring for her know the exact amount of pain relief to give and when, despite this the medication is always over an hour late! When my partner presses her emergency bell to show staff how much pain shes in and to tell them she needs her pain relief they just say o.k and walk off!! Another hour later and she finally gets it!! Now it is 17.22 and the medication was meant to be sorted at 16.30. Also she has to have a constant drip to keep her hydrated as she is nil by mouth, last night it came out of her arm and was begging nurses to put it back in as her sheets were also covered in blood, 1 hour 45mins later it was re-connected. I keep trying to reassure her shes in the best place but its hard when your constantly ignored and treated more like a prisoner than a patient?

Thank's for your feedback. I am so sorry that your partner experienced delays. The nurses should have explained the process to you regarding pain relief and why there had been a delay. I am the deputy ward manager, carly.joseph@nhs.net and will be sharing your comments with the team.
