I recently had an operation. I was extremely disappointed with a situation that arose when I arrived at the area outside of the Anesthetist Room. The Nurse (Rose) was handing me over to the Anesthetist's Assistant who was asking her to tell them my details including what procedure I was about to have undertaken. They looked very stressed and starting shouting over me towards the nurse. She had stated my name and date of birth but decided not to state the procedure to save my embarrassment. She was just being professional and we could all read the card in front of us. The Anesthetist Assistant certainly was not being professional. I did not feel very comfortable with them shouting over me just before being put to sleep for my operation. As a emergency services worker myself, this assistant had absolutely no respect for the nurse, was totally unprofessional and I was very close to telling them to leave the room as I did not really want them working on me at that time. Something needs to be done to stop this happening again and making further patients very uncomfortable in an unfamiliar environment.
