"Care & Attention to our beloved Step-father"

Our step-father took very ill sadly and was admitted to Monklands. He was transferred from accident and emergency to various wards within the next few days but remained confused and very frightened. Yes he was in his 90s and a bit deaf, but before he took ill he was very active, could communicate great, walked his dog, did all his own chores and shopping and drove his car. So he was a very active for his age. As you will appreciate the last time he was in hospital was 1948 so things would have looked very different to him........................... coupled with the confusion it was a very difficult time.

He finally arrived in Ward 12 and I would just like to say the staff in this ward are exemplary. , staff in the other wards were good as well but in Ward 12 they took the time to understand the situation, the fact he was deaf and the confusion. He was finally able to communicate with us telling us he understood and giving us the thumbs up telling us everything was ok. , he was ok he was in good hands.

The care and attention shown to us was extremely appreciated and we felt as though the staff were with us every step of the way. Sadly he passed away and we miss him very much but the excellent care and attention he received makes in slightly easier to bear. We have lost other members of our family at other hospitals as I am sure everyone has but sadly we did not receive the same support and empathy. To the staff on Ward 12, a huge thanks, we can never thank you enough for your care and communication.
