"Doing the operation for a third time"

About: East Surrey Hospital

Decades ago I had an operation for a hydrocele at Smallfield hospital. It lasted until I had a job at Avoca at Gatwick where I was expected to move heavy suit cases. My old injury developed into a hernia. This was operated on at (Redwood Hospital a private section of) East Surrey Hospital. About three years later the edge of the repair opened up. It was a 50mm slit through the muscle. My GP sent me to East Surrey Hospital where they repeatedly sent me on tests, including a terrible visit to Crawley Hospital. There the ultrasound whatever said repaired hernias never recur. By this time the painful wound was about 7 inches long and had given me a hernia where one had not existed previously. After more than a year they finally agreed I had a problem. They did their best to dissuade me to have an operation and especially where a repair was required. I now have a muscular tear about 10 inches long. Finally, in August I had a pre op and am still waiting 18 months later.
