"Nothing"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Nothing

What could be improved

The waiting time. Whilst I appreciate Blackburn is an exceptionally busy hospital, I think the waiting time of 4 hours for butterfly stitches could definately improved. Especially when the child is 6 years old, cold (the waiting room could be improved), scared, cold, tired, in pain. We waited an hour for the triagenurse who informed me that it would only take 5 minutes for the steri strips to be applied. Brilliant. The bad news was i would have to wait 2 hours as there was only one doctor who could do this. I was then made to feel bad because i was obviously dismayed by this. 2 hours later, It was now around 10pm, I went to the nurses station to ask how much longer i would have to wait. I was rather snottily informed that my daughter was not a priority and there was a wait of six patients and maybe more if someone more important came in. I explained she was 6 in pain, tied etc and she stold me to give her calpol. I totally understand that my daughters case was probably not as urgent as others, but she is 6 years old, and being made to sit in a cold waiting room with a nasty cut on her chin. This same nurse had snapped at another patient earlier in the night. For abvious reasons I felt misled as I had been previously been told 2 hours (which i still think is too long for a 5 min treatment). At 11.15pm, we were finally called to be treated. we got to the hospital at 6.50pm and left at 11.25pm. All that wait for 5 mins treatment. I understand the more urgent need of other patients, but think that this is an absolute disgrace.

Anything else?

Childrens area, is there one? I dont think it is appropiate for a child to be sat in a waiting room were people are getting angry and using inappropiate language.
