My entire experience of attending CI is one of disappointment and concern. Clearly some staff still care (they're usually on the posters) but I found them totally de-motivated and not particularly caring either. The shortage of Consultants and nurses brings with it an often condescending 'take it or leave it' attitude - you just get the impression some are just hanging on until their pensions kick -in. Clearly, there are good staff at the CI and I'm sure e.g. A & E will score well but the overall impression of this over-rated aircraft hanger is not fit for purpose. I also witnessed some very poor basic hygiene standards which I reported (This wasn't in Urology).
I'd also like to know why it takes 6 weeks for a referral letter for an operation to be typed up ('We've only one typist now").
Really poor - Cumbrians deserve better!
