What I liked
The ward was cleaned regularly to a high standard. All the staff were kind and The Senior Registrar explained things fully to me.
What could be improved
The doctors could have introduced themselves by name and position.
.
Communication between the medical teams: I was told by a consultant at lunchtime the results of my investigations and was advised that I would be staying in hospital for a further two days. Friends who visited me in the afternoon were also advised about my possible discharge date. At 5 p.m. I was told by another doctor I could go home. I was asked to arrange my own transport and was forced to get a taxi which was extremely expensive as I live over twenty miles away.
I do not know if there is a detailed procedure for discharge of a patient but as a person living on their own, it would have been a kindness to be asked if their would be some support from friends/family. 6 p.m. is not a reasonable time at which to be discharged, especially when one lives alone.
