"My daughter needs a solution"

My daughter had the flu 18mths ago. The cough stayed with her.

She has been suffering with the cough which sounds like she smokes 40 cigs a day. She has hot feverish sweats, shortness of breath when she climbs stairs, acid and flux repeating. But the most worrying thing is she has lost 1,1/2 stones in weight in the past month.

She went to to doctors who told her it was catar.

She moved house and went to her local GP who so far has been told they think it could be TB, pneumonia or even bronchitis. She has had three lots of anti biotics of which none have stopped the cough, a chest x-ray and a sputum test which was clear, blown down a pipe to check rate of breath. She told me the most insulting thing was a doctor told her it was all in her mind. That cough is not in the mind, it's real. All this to no avail.

She does not live with me and I need some advice for her. What should be her next step, because it's clear to me she cannot go on like this.
