My Father was supposed to be brought to the MAU department yesterday on the advice on his GP. We were told he would bypass A&E and would go straight to MAU.
My father had been discharged from Bronte Ward Critical Care Unit less than 24 hours before so he should have gone straight back there.
We were appalled to find that he has spent the past 11 hours in a Corridor in A&E as there are no beds in MAU or back to the ward I take it?
He was unable to use a toilet or be fed, he has one leg and Alzheimer's.
The very same things happened last Friday night in A&E with him and countless other helpless people left in a corridor with a number stuck on the wall next to them.
It will in the end be what kills my father as he will just give up.
This is an unacceptable was for patients to be treated.
Something has to change.
A&E is under extreme pressure and I feel sorry for the staff, who would want to do a job like this.
Ambulance staff aswell banking up with patients with nowhere for them to go.
