I visited Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital on Sunday 10th January 2016 in incredible pain, to discover I had an extremely large cyst on my left ovary (16cm in length, containing over a litre of fluid), which had twisted itself, and was trying to strangle my ovary. I required keyhole surgery to drain and remove the cyst, and was discharged on the Tuesday evening.
During my stay I was made to feel comfortable, a priority, and extremely cared for by each staff member I encountered. It's due to this care, professionalism and the support of all the staff involved that I'm recovering as quickly as I am.
Special thanks to all of the unsung heroes in A&E, Ward 3, Theatre, Recovery, Ward 1, the Porters and the Aftercare Team (the phone call I recently received to 'see how I was doing' was a wonderful gesture)
I firmly believe that these amazingly devoted people don't receive anywhere close to the credit they deserve. They work extremely hard, and always with a smile on their faces. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them, and every effort is made to ensure the highest quality of treatment is provided. I even had a nurse quoting Chandler Bing from Friends in attempt to make me laugh. It worked!
Thanks again everyone. You're each a credit to the hospital, your profession and our NHS :-)
