"Breast care and surgeon"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (King's Lynn)

Having had an overnight stay under the breast surgeon I was extremely satisfied in the care and compassion I was given, from my initial admission through to my discharge. The nurses on Marham ward was very professional and I was treated with respect, nothing seemed too much trouble. The staff in the anaesthetic room were absolutely brilliant, they made you feel at ease and welcoming. The night staff were also very good even though I had a bit of trouble in the night they were really good. The only issue I had was the fact I had a chest drain in and nobody opened the valve to release it into the bag, hence my night problem as obviously it backed up into my chest which was very painful. Maybe the nurses should check these drains and not leave them for the breast care nurses to check in the mornings!!!

Other than that I was extremely impressed with my care.

Thank you for posting a reflection on your experience as a recent patient of the breast care service. It was good to hear that overall it was a very positive experience but I am sorry that some lack of diligence on behalf of a few members of staff led to you having a difficult night after your surgery. I will ensure your comments are shared with the appropriate staff from the ward and the breast care service as a whole so that this particular issue is followed up. I hope that you are now making a good recovery from your operation.
