Myself & my husband went to A&E yesterday evening. My husband had a severe ankle injury. When we arrived the waiting area which could only be described as a cupboard was full to the brim with more & more patients arriving. In total there were only about 10 seats which is an absolute disgrace when people are very ill. Patients were having to go out of the room for air & 1 lady had a panic attack due to the claustrophobic nature of the waiting area. I am aware the dept is being developed however surely consideration should have been given to allocating a more adequate area for patients who are very ill to wait for their treatment. After about an hour waiting, my husband was called into another room where the nurse spent about 20 seconds looking at his foot & sent him on his way without asking any questiond aroud how he sustained his injury. I put this down to the department being short staffed & staff not having enough time to spend with patients. We will be going to get a second opinion today due to our dissatisfaction with the care given.
