"Parking"

About: Southmead Hospital

The hospital is built like an airport terminal and Parking is an absolute nightmare. It is not at all disabled friendly - even for blue badge holders. I feel very embarrassed for the Trust. How could they possibly think it acceptable?

Dear Anonymous – thank you for posting your comments about the Brunel building and parking. I hope that your care was of a good standard. I am sorry the design of the building was not to your taste as many patients have praised the new design and facilities.

Unfortunately, whilst the redevelopment of the hospital site has been underway, parking has not been as optimal as we would wish. The old adage of not being able to squeeze a quart into a pint pot has applied, but this will be rectified once the 2nd phase of the development has been completed. This will provide improved disabled and general patient/visitor parking facilities, which are directly linked to the new Brunel Building. Access will also be made easier with internal road changes designed to improve traffic flow, and a better drop-off and public transport access outside the main entrance will also result.

I apologise that in the interim some difficulties have been experienced, but I hope that should you need to visit Southmead again after May 2016 you will notice the improvements.

Kind Regards – Steve Sykes
