"Lack of care and advice"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

I've been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis for the last two years. The nurses in this hospital say that they're always there when you need them, like only a phone call away yet I've now realised there not. There's severe lack of communication. In the past I've wait 6-8 days for a call back when I really needed treatment and care and only last week I rang them and rang them two days later for them too say the message I had rang never got passed on and I should go to my GP. Even though my GP had told me the issues were ms related and I needed to see a specialist!!! So now i am left with no help, 6 days later. The nurses are lovely but this isn't a one off, it's shocking!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback via the NHS Choices website on our services at Neurology, RVI.

Firstly, we would like to apologise that your experience of the Neurosciences Department has not met with your very reasonable expectations. We are extremely concerned that you have not been able to talk to a Specialist Nurse in MS.

Unfortunately, as your feedback has been posted anonymously, we are unable to investigate what has happened in this situation and to ensure that you receive the appropriate communication with a Specialist.

So that we can investigate further and provide you with clinical support you require, we would be grateful if you could please contact Miss Hannah Powell, Directorate Manager for Neurosciences on 0191 282 1507.
