"Attended for a scan at 32 weeks ."

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

The sonographer was rude and patronising. My madien name had been changed on the system but the stickers on my notes had not , they began by telling me off for not having the stickers replaced and by claiming this would cause a big problem. I pointed out to them it wouldn't because the system details are correct and new stickers just need to be printed .

They then asked if my bladder was full , I told them it was possibly not as full as it could be and apologised for this .This sparked another telling off , ending with them saying if they couldn't see

What they needed to I would have to have a transvaginal scan . I informed the sonographer if that was the case then I would prefer to be given then chance to drink some more and then try again . They said this was not possible and I would have to have the vaginal scan . I informed them I would not if it wasn't necessary . They told me to stop arguing with them!

At no point was I being rude just assertive . They then began the scan , using a huge amount of gel . They asked me to stop stensing my stomach muscles .I found this both amusing and irritating as I wish I could tense them ! They moaned throughout the scan about my bladder and then tilted the bed so I was head down in an attempt ( they claimed ) to move baby from my pelvis . This surprisingly didn't help and after complaining again about my refusal to have a vaginal scan they left me head down and went to find a collegue . At this point I felt sick and dizzy . A colleague arrived and put the bed into a normal position and repeated the scan , they were able to see quickly what they needed to and was kind and professional in their manner . No need for a vaginal scan at all !

I fully intend to contact PALS regarding this . Having read other reviews it is obvious the same person has treated a number of people very poorly .

The staff in general in the unit could not be more helpful , kind , professional and courteous .
