This review is of my mother and how she was card for.
I believe the efforts of the doctor were extremely good in reaching an informed diagnosis with many tests and time taken to determine the course of action.
However she was told that she would be tested walking up and down stairs to determine her mobility.
This didn't happen.
On being discharged I agreed to take her home but am dissatisfied that I was allowed to take her out on foot as she was very frail and unsteady on her feet. In other hospitals this isn't allowed.
It was never offered that someone could wheel her out. I was relieved to get her safely into the car but left wondering who would have been liable if my mum had fallen either inside or outside the hospital.
NB the only toilet and bed at her home are upstairs. It's also not ideal that patients are told they will be discharged the same afternoon this happens.
It gives little time to prepare for it.
I hope this benefits others. In all other respects the care and treatment she received were excellent.
"Duty of care lacking in some areas"
