About: Royal Berkshire Hospital

Burghfield ward is for old people.

Yet.. the floor is very slippery.

Non-slip sprays do not cost much and will save that accident that is going to happen. And meanwhile old fragile patients feel unsafe.

Thank you for your feedback. Please be assured that we have very few falls on Burghfield Ward and that the flooring is not slippery unless fluids have been spilt on it, which is the same for any other flooring.

As a result of your feedback, yesterday we carried out two ‘slip tests’ on Burghfield Ward floor using the HSE Slip Assessment tool and a surface finish tester. The results confirmed that the floor was a ‘low slip risk’ so we are confident that the ward remains a safe environment for our frail elderly patients.
